LMA Civic Service – October 2024

Rain could not dampen the pageantry of this year’s LMA Civic Service. As usual the LMA service coincided with Westminster Abbey’s special service to mark the Feast of the Dedication. This service, rich in beauty and history, included readings by LMA president, the Right Worshipful Mayor of Westminster, Cllr Robert Rigby. The sermon was delivered by the Rt Reverend Dr Emma Ineson, Bishop of Kensington. Mayors from every London borough, accompanied by their mace bearers, processed into the Abbey and were part of an unforgettable service. A fitting reminder of our roles as Civic Mayors, dedicated to service to our communities.

The choir sang wonderfully adding to the deeply reflective atmosphere of the service. The LMA, as always, thanks the staff of the Abbey and the affiliated Westminster School for the use of their extraordinary buildings and grounds.
