LMA Civic Visit to Madrid – March 2024

Forty members of the LMA were treated to a fabulous 5 day civic visit to Madrid where they were welcomed by the British ambassador to Spain and the Mayor of Madrid
Whilst there, members were taken on a short coach tour of Madrid and a tour of the Prado museum where they saw the museum’s best exhibits. This was followed by an early evening reception at the British Embassy with a welcome to Madrid from the British Ambassador, Hugh Eliot. The day was rounded off with a wonderful dinner at Casa Juan.

Further trip highlights included a meeting with the very impressive Mayor of Madrid at the City Hall – a beautiful building and former Central Post Office. The Madrid Mayor’s tour included the Chamber and a rooftop view over Madrid.
After a swift panoramic coach tour of the city, a delicious lunch and then visit with guided tour of the Royal Palace – Palacio Real – which was a rare treat.
Members also had the opportunity to visit Toledo and Segovia – both within easy reach of Madrid. A walking tour of Madrid’s old city was the perfect end to the LMA’s five days in Spain. Everyone agreed that the trip was wonderful and a real treat for the senses.
