LMA Civic Visit to Portugal – March 2025
LMA members had a wonderful 5 days in Portugal taking in the sights of Lisbon and Porto whilst strengthening civic ties with the United Kingdon’s oldest ally. As always a very warm welcome was given by our Portuguese hosts.
Food and fellowship were an important part of our time in Portugal.
Our time in Porto was filled with sightseeing at The Doura, Cathedral Se do Porto. Followed by a cruise on the Douro River with a tour of the Six Bridges.
The Civic Reception hosted by Porto mayor, Humberto Delgado, at Porto City Hall was a highlight of our time in Porto. Following LMA tradition, Chairman Steve Summers presented Mayor Delgado with a gift from the LMA to thank Porto for its great hospitality.
Next stop was Lisbon where LMA members were greeted at their hotel by HM Deputy Ambassador, Nigel Budd. The following days were filled with sightseeing in Lisbon. UNESCO World Heritage site Jeronimos Monastery was a particular highlight.
A warm welcome was provided by Lisbon Mayor, Carlos Moedas, who gave a reception for LMA members at Lisbon City Hall. LMA members appreciated the beauty of Lisbon’s City Hall and genuine friendship on display at the reception.
